The vibrant Des Plaines Art Guild celebrates art in our community promoting artistic activities to encourage interest in the field of creative art.
Our mission is to ignite passion for visual art, promote visual art and artists, and increase public appreciation and awareness by providing education and exhibition opportunities to artists of all proficiency levels.
We support talented artists, spread the joy of creativity far and wide, and make art accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level. We're not just an organization – we're a community that thrives on artistic expression.
Our goal is to foster a love for creative art and bring people together through a shared appreciation for visual expression.
MEET OUR TEAM
Rhonda Popko
President
Rhonda has been a member of the DPAG for over 46 years. After a long career as an Art teacher at the Science & Arts Academy and the DP Park District, retirement is full of art activism, art making, gardening, and travel. Her preferred materials for her work are mixed media and exploring unusual things you would not expect!
Stan Kotecki
Co-President
Stan is an award-winning professional photographer. For over 20 years, Stan has traveled the world for client assignments, with his work displayed in numerous trade publications and works exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, and many libraries throughout the Chicago Metro area. Kathy Passi
1st Vice President
Kathy Passi lives in Des Plaines and is a longtime member of the Des Plaines Art Guild. She studied art at Oakton College and works in various mediums.
Elaine Tejcek
2nd Vice President
Elaine is a long time member of the DPAG with a passion for nature-based art. Inspired by the colors of Door County, WI, her preferred medium is watercolors with an emphasis on florals, landscapes, wildlife and stilllife. Her work has been exhibited at several locations, including DePaul University and the American Medical Association.
Mary Olson
Secretary
Mary resides in Des Plaines with her husband, their two dogs Dixie, Sammie and Apollo, their cocktoo. Mary is a self-taught artist painting for over 20 years starting with oils, but after working with watercolors, they've been the best of friends ever since!
Joyce Kearns
Treasurer
Joyce is a longtime Des Plaines resident and active member who collaborates with her husband to create beautiful wooden crafts and outdoor art.
